My Last Lecture

I have learned that each of us has a calling in our life and it is our job to uncover what that is. Each of us has specific gifts and talents as well as interests and thus each of us has the responsibility to use these gifts to benefit others and leave our mark on society in a positive way. I know that discovering our calling will not happen overnight. As we strive to live each day in a way so that we can look back on our life with contentment and peace, we will slowly come closer to reaching the realization of our true calling.
In order to reach the end of your life and not have regret you need to create a plan for your life and determine the stepping stones that will ultimately get you to that destination and also ethical guardrails so we will led astray from our true destination. Along the way don't be afraid to take risks because failure will all be part or the experience and will help you make progress toward success. Be humble enough to utilize all experiences possible and soak up all the information and wisdom you can while being and driven toward success. Put yourself in a position to be open to new opportunities and surround yourself with mentors that have been where you are and have the type of success that you are seeking.
Learn to find joy in the journey of growth and you will be able to continue through the plateaus in your progression that will surely come. Life and the pursuit of mastering anything worthwhile is not going to be easy. Don’t think that it will be smooth sailing. Along the way there will definitely be times when you feel like you are gaining ground and other times when you feel no progress is being made. It is during those tough times that true masters and heroes are created. Cut out the word can’t from your vocabulary. Many will give up when times are tough. The true test of this life is to see who will stick with the hero’s journey and even learn to enjoy the process so much that even those flat periods where no ground seems to be gained, will still feel like a blessing.
Successful people have created patterns in their life that foster success. They get up early and are productive, they spend their time gleaning knowledge from others who have been successful. They look to learn something from everyone they meet and seek to help others with their goals. They give back and that’s where they find true joy and success. You will fall and you will have moments of failure, we all do. However, if you stay true to your vision for your life and seek to positively influence others in the process you will find that success you seek even if it is not in the exact way you had imagined.
