Don't be afraid to fail
I have struggled with overcoming fear for a lot of my life and I have let this interfere with most of my decisions. I found it helpful to read the case study this week and many other lessons about an entrepreneur that has had had failures but isn't afraid to keep trying again in the midst of that. I would say that all truly successful people have pushed past their fears and making a habit of doing that. They are risk takers and reap the rewards of being able to push past that comfort zone. I liked how Stan Christensen said that when thinking about choosing a job to start we need to subtract the anxiety. I think this also applies to the first stepping stones in our life plan. It can be difficult for me to just make that decision of where to go first but just understanding that just making any move forward will open me up to experience and learning and it can always be a jumping off point for other endeavors by putting myself in a position to take advantage of other opportunities. Larry North said that believing in yourself is your biggest asset and I know this to be true. That confidence that comes from keeping commitments to yourself and learning that you can do anything you put your mind to will set you apart from the others and give you that drive needed when the failures come which they surely will. I also love President Monson's thoughts about gratitude. During my life journey I need to remain hopeful and that comes from recognizing what I have now and being grateful for it. He said, "If in gratitude is numbered among the most serious sins, then gratitude takes it's place among the noblest of virtues."
